Abstract

Abstract: Verbal abuse is a form of violence that has a direct impact on the psychological development of young children. Harsh, demeaning, and mocking words are often considered trivial, but they can hinder the formation of a child's character. The school environment plays a strategic role in preventing this, especially through the presence of teachers as role models and mentors. This study aims to determine: (1) the role of teachers in preventing verbal abuse in early childhood, (2) the obstacles and supporting factors faced by teachers in preventing verbal abuse, and (3) the learning strategies applied by teachers in preventing verbal abuse at the Sungai Mulia 5 Gombak Early Childhood Education Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach methodology, with data collection techniques consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, which consists of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research subjects were the institution managers, teachers, and students at Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia 5 Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The results of the study showed that: (1) the role of teachers in preventing verbal violence included: instilling character education through learning, applying Islamic values, active teacher supervision, setting an example for children, and collaborative intervention with parents; (2) the inhibiting factors include the consistency of teachers in repeating positive material, lack of supervision at home, and limited facilities, while the supporting factors include the religious background of teachers, a supportive curriculum, and support from parents and administrators; (3) the learning strategies used include storytelling, Islamic videos, role-playing, and reinforcement with praise and rewards for good speech.

Abstrak: Kekerasan verbal merupakan salah satu bentuk kekerasan yang berdampak langsung terhadap perkembangan psikologis anak usia dini. Ucapan yang kasar, merendahkan, dan mengejek sering kali dianggap sepele, namun dapat menghambat pembentukan karakter anak. Lingkungan sekolah memiliki peran strategis dalam mencegah hal ini, terutama melalui kehadiran guru sebagai teladan dan pembimbing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) peran guru dalam mencegah kekerasan verbal pada anak usia dini, (2) faktor penghambat dan pendukung yang dihadapi guru dalam mencegah kekerasan verbal, serta (3) strategi pembelajaran yang diterapkan oleh guru dalam mencegah kekerasan verbal di PAUD Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia 5 Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah model interaktif dari Miles dan Huberman, yang terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Objek penelitian penelitian yaitu pengelola lembaga, guru dan anak didik di Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia 5 Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) peran guru dalam mencegah kekerasan verbal antara lain: menanamkan pendidikan karakter melalui pembelajaran, penerapan nilai-nilai Islami, pengawasan aktif guru, pemberian keteladanan kepada anak, dan intervensi kerja sama dengan orang tua; (2) faktor penghambat meliputi konsistensi guru mengulang materi bernilai positif, kurangnya pengawasan di rumah, dan keterbatasan sarana, sedangkan faktor pendukung berupa latar belakang keagamaan guru, kurikulum yang mendukung, serta dukungan orang tua dan pengelola; (3) strategi pembelajaran yang digunakan antara lain melalui metode bercerita, video Islami, permainan peran, serta penguatan dengan pujian dan hadiah terhadap tutur kata yang baik.
